COMMITTED TO QUALITY & CARE IN EVERY LITTLE DETAIL

As part of Mirvac’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship, Development Director Mark Trovato, Senior Associate Victor Wong, and Director of Sustainability Catherine Curry recently travelled to Almería, Spain, to visit the headquarters of Cosentino, our selected stone supplier for Trielle’s kitchens and bathrooms. The visit included a tour of Cosentino’s quarry, factory, and warehouse – an important step in Mirvac’s due diligence process to ensure their quality control meets Mirvac’s standards.

Q & A with Development Manager, Mark Travato

WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF YOUR RECENT VISIT TO THE STONE SUPPLIER IN SPAIN?

We recently visited Cosentino’s headquarters in Almeria, Spain, to inspect their factory, stone quarry and warehouse, where the specified natural stone for our kitchens, bathrooms and feature joinery will be processed and treated before being shipped to Melbourne to supply the Trielle project.

WHAT STOOD OUT TO YOU DURING THE VISIT?

We were extremely impressed by Cosentino’s scale of operations and their rigorous quality assurance process. The consistency of the stone batches, along with the textures, colours, and finishes, matched our design team’s specifications perfectly, giving us confidence that the final product will look exceptional in our apartments.

HOW DOES THIS VISIT IMPACT THE PROJECT TIMELINE?

By conducting this inspection early, we can address any potential issues in a timely manner, avoiding delays to our construction program and QA process. The relationships we build with our preferred suppliers and the confidence this inspires are necessary to ensure we deliver on the quality expected in our high calibre projects.

WHAT ARE THE NEXT STEPS FOLLOWING YOUR VISIT?

We’ll finalise the stone order and coordinate with our logistics team to schedule shipping. Meanwhile, the construction team can proceed with confidence, knowing the materials will be ready ahead of time and be of the quality required for the project.

ANY FINAL THOUGHTS ON YOUR TRIP?

With sustainability being a focus for Mirvac, it was fantastic to witness firsthand Cosentino’s dedication to be market leading in sustainable work practises. With a 66,000 panel solar farm on site, the factory runs on 100% renewable electricity, and nearly 100% of water used on site is reused. Costentino capture material waste and offcuts in the manufacturing process to be reused in their products or repurposed for road base and other uses.

FAVORITE MEAL ON YOUR TRIP?

The regions we travelled had some amazing restaurants, but for simplicity and tradition I can’t go past a few slices of Jamón Ibérico on crusty bread drizzled with olive oil. Muy bien!
